What I've been up to lately

Well, this are the thing I've been up to lately. I apologize for the lack of continuity in my blog. I started the MC Hi-Nu and never got to posting WIP part 2 for the kit. XP Right now I really don't have the luxury of time so the progress on my kits are ever so slow. Once it's July I think I'll be working on different kits on different phases of WIP at the same time (modding 1 kit, sanding another and painting another one). Anyway, just to keep my viewers interested, here's what I've been up to lately.

I've also "kitbashed" a Rx-78 SCM. EX figure to a 1/144 00 gundam. The SCM EX series of banpresto has very articulated figures, they only have a small range of figures but the articulation just blew me away

I've also recently joined the forum "Gundam Eclipse", I've been warmly welcomed and thank the admin for accepting me. I joined the forum under the name NexusPrime20. I joined the forum  to join their "Summer War Contest", a gundam competition that ENCOURAGES modifications. So this is the competition for me, I've always told Sir Vanz Hilario that "I don't know how to make a clean build, I MUST ALWAYS have mods on my kit" XP  hahaha, so this is my entry for GE's Summer contest (apparently it's summer in the US)

A long Due update on my blog - 1/144 MC Hi-Nu Ver EA.

Long time no blog yeah? Well first of all thank you for all the followers and viewers I have though I'd hope for more interaction with you XP. No, I really do.

This is what I've been up too lately. Got really inspired looking at Master Eday's work on his 1/144 kits. So I took my MC Hi-Nu which is the missing link between the 1/100 and 1/144 scale. A perfect step to stepping down from MG to 1/144. I'm also taking this kit as "warm-up" for BKMWC this year. Hopefully I could finish this and actually reach the point of painting  this kit (the last kit I panted was a year ago). Still not decided what to do for this year's BMKWC. Only Sir Vanz has an idea XP.

Anyway let's move on to the reason your here in my blog

Most of my Bro's from GMAC are familiar with my MC Hi-Nu. What I did here is based on master Eday's totally AWESOME work on his 1/144 kits. I had to extend his waist upward though for about 1cm to accomodate the mods then added some piston works and koto parts. If your familiar with the kit you'll know it's about as tall as MG WZC, after the mods it's 1 head smaller than MG Blue Frame. Due to the unfinished work on the waist the back arches back because of the weight of the backpack, thankfully the fuel tanks saved the day X)

Right now I'm experiencing shortage on the koto parts I use for making the pistons. So more mods for pistons will be postponed for now. Actually there are 2 pairs of pistons here. (4pcs in total, the bigger ones cover smaller ones at the back not seen in pic). I promise better pics and a tutorial on this pistons next blog post guys XD.

Next thing I'm gonna do while waiting for the replacement of the koto parts I use for this pistons is to add pla plates to the inner torso since after the cutting the female and male peg joints in the torso can be seen and also for added strength and stability. I also need to finish the back since this gundam probably has more weight on it's back rather than the gundam itself.

my First Perfect Grade - PG strike gundam

First let me start about the decision I made to buy this PG. As you all probably know, bandai only releases only 1 PG per year, So the choice for the PG's are very limited. Take my word on this though, this is probably the only Perfect Grade you should buy (along with the strike rouge XD) For those who really know me from the MAC forums and GMAC group in facebook, they all know me as a very hard core fan of 00 raiser. I am VERY excited to get my hands on the MG 00 raiser but the reviews lately have me disappointed, BUT the PG 00 raiser is the BIGGER disappointement. For it's very big price tag, there is no excuse that the cons should outway the Pro's. and then there's the latest PG SF.... 1 week after the launch I found out that the peg for the wings is very fragile and tends to break, people online even posted their own remedies for thisBack to the PG series... well a PG needs big bucks, this PG strike is on the cheap side since it's backpack (skygrasper and aile striker pack) is sold seperately, unlike the 00raiser and Strike freedom this is about half the price and this PG did not fail to disappoint.

well, this is not really a review, rather it's an introduction to another WIP of mine that I hope to complete someday XD

Right now I've only begun slight modification on the rifle and on the backpack. I'm not planning to put the aile striker there so I took some scrap for the backpack instead. The rifle has many cool add-ons that I have based on modern weapons today

I felt that the rifle was a little short for the tall and macho PG strike so I added an adjustable stock using koto parts and some pla beams (sorry for the unrotated pics XD)

Next I added a "holographic sight" which as far as I know is the correct term. I added a koto part at the end of the gun which looks like an iron sight to help with aiming. you can look through it and it slightly looks like a first person shooter video game.

I also added some bits and pieces from other kits to the other end of the gun to simulate a laser pointer or a flashlight and a grenade launcher underneath.

And I made a custom "rail" on top of the gun, loosly based on the actual G36 rifle.

That's all I can update for now folks! I hope to do some more mods on the backpack and also the sniper rifle I am scratchbuilding XD. Till the next update guys. 

My first Resin kit - Strike Evolve - My Graduation gift to self

First let's just talk about this Resin kit. I have been modding and customizing kits for about 2 years now and this Resin Kit is a new experience for me. First I got this from Coldfire at about the same price as the regular MG strike is. (So a gundam with a resin kit is worth twice the regular gundam) Be Warned - if you'd also want to try this resin kit, you need the MG AILE strike, not any other strike version, without the Aile pack you wont be able to make the Evolved Aile striker pack which is mouthwatering GOOD. If you think you'd do fine without the Aile pack then by all means go!.

Now while test fitting this resin kit on my Aile Strike I found a few things which I'd like to point out. I'm viewing this event as a first timer in handling Resin Kits, if you've encountered resin kits before you should know what I'm talking about, I'm trying to share my experience in the sense that you may be wanting to try a resin kit as well.

- You need alot of TIME - If your like me who has 10 WIPS at the same time, postpone them all, sanding alone will take probably take you... forever
- you gonna need some glue, most of the part's here need glue to stick properly, while there are hole's and pegs most of those joint systems cannot or do not hold the part in place hence GLUE IT.
- A side note on glue - it takes twice the amount of time for super glue to glue 2 parts together on a resin kit than regular plastic from bandai - I have no idea why
- Be Extra Careful - A regular MG that I have can fall from my display cabinet to the ground (that sounds brutal) without any broken parts, but may have parts that are removed due to the shock, I DARE NOT TRY THAT ON A RESIN KIT. The material used for this kit is not as durable as bandai's plastic
- THE NUBS - if you thought nubs on a bandai kit were a pain - the nubs on a resin kit will kill you. The nubs here are about 5 times bigger, thicker, fat and square. - sometimes when cutting a nub you damage the very part itself (it happened to me several times)
- THE AMOUNT OF WORK - if you're looking at a 1/100 scale resin kit - think of it as the amount of work you would do on a PG
- This is not for beginners - really it ain't you'd end up giving up on the kit
- Do some research before buying your chosen resin kit - There are some resin kit's that require a whole model kit or sometimes just a frame - this is because the resin kit (like the one I have) requires some parts from the original gundam to build the final output
- Despite the amount of work a resin kit DEMANDS - it looks AWESOOOOOOME !!!! XD

The Aile Striker Pack - Again, this needs parts from the original Aile Striker Pack, if the Strike gundam you have is for example Strike + IWSP you wont be able to build this. The main wings are held by a very small peg and hole joint - it needed alot of glue.

Like I said, in spite of the Devastating amount of work to be done - Resin Kit's are AWESOME. They take Gundam's to the next Level. I actually decided to buy a Resin Kit after I've found out there's nothing more in Dalong's MG page that I'd like to buy that isn't released yet. (Yup I'm talking about the MG 00r and Epyon)



To the Gundam itself - it is an established fact, it looks Awesome, a PG in 1/100 scale form. It's molded in a buttery kind of yellow and I'm sure the details will pop out more after a round of primer.

The details - are to die for

I don't know why - but the legs are always THE most detailed part of the gundam. Shifting Knee armor? The resin kit really captured the look of the PG

Rear View - just as good as the front view, let no one tell you better. I can really say that the resin kit does make your strike EVOLVE. The details are sharp and crisp

The Arms

The Icing of the kit - the Aile striker pack, I think it would be a waste if you wouldn't build this. The thruster look way better!!

So about Resin kits? Should you buy them? that DEPENDS on you. It depends on how much experience you have (experience in painting is a must), how dedicated are you in finishing this resin kit. I'd recommend you start on Resin kits that require an inner frame, before those whole/completely Resin kits since I don't have much faith on the material to hold a bigger amount of weight on it. Also Patience is indeed a virtue for this kits

1/144 Model Comprehend (MC) Hi Nu

Here's the Model Kit I bought together with the action bases. I must say this is the most awesome 1/144 scale out there. You should see one to believe it. Nothing else comes close to this. Upon completion of this kit, I instantly fell in love with the design, proportions and details of the kit. Considering it's a 1/144 scale kit, I think it can even rival some MG's for it's details. Bottom line guys, I recommend you buy this kit as much as I recommend you buy a Sinanju, Yup it's that awesome! The price is also very cheap, a 1/144 sinanju is probably more expensive than this while the box itself is as big as a 1/100 model kit's box.

The details on this kit are off the charts Amazing, I haven't seen anything like this one, it really is not from bandai hence I would not call this a knock-off, while it is based on a Gundam from BanDai it is definitely not based on a Bandai Model kit. As you can see I've already started detailing this baby more with koto parts and soon enough some more panel lines, I'm really excited what this would look like after all the mods I'm planning.

The rear view is just as detailed and beautiful as the front view. Show casing the Hi Nu's elegant winged Back pack, with a tail fin. The kit comes included with those long propellant tanks, but it was those exaggerated kinds so I'd rather not put them on, they probably add to stability of the kit. 

 Really want to work on those legs ASAP

And that's just Beautiful

Should you buy this kit? that's a big YES. It's in the same price range as those bigger/more detailed 1/144 scales from 00, like the harute, reborns, 00 raiser. IT is very Cheap. It comes with beam effect parts for the wings to give it a full burst mode feel (that I dont really like, it seems too exaggerated) and effect parts for the swords. The manual itself is also a big step up from Bandai's manuals, the manual included here look's more like a magazine. And also something this kit has, that some kit's have and some kit's don't is what I call POTENTIAL. Building this kit made my Spider Sense for Customization Tingle, it alone or OOTB is very detailed already almost good enough to paint immediately I just couldn't resist not to mod such a BEAUTIFUL kit.

"I recommend you buy this kit as much as I would recommend you buy a Master Grade Sinanju"

Right now the company that made this (Model Comprehend) only has 2 models, the Hi-Nu and the regular Nu. I told my friends who also have this model that if MC were to launch other kits I'd definitely buy them (and they're very cheap) I'm praying for a Unicorn and 00 raiser and put in a Sinanju there too for there line up, can't wait to see the next model from MC 

An invetment

Hey Guys! How ya been? It's been a long time since my last blog post, I was very buisy for stuff in school since I'm graduating and now I'm a bachelor's degree holder. Anyway that's not the point of the blog post, the point of the blog post is this purchase I made in 168 mall in Divisoria (philippines). I was able to buy 8 knock off mechanical chain bases for about 30-40USD (1500 php). I also bought a very interesting model kit, that is not made by Ban Dai but rather a new but small company Model Comprehend. We'll took about that on a later blog post. Bottom line I bought all those found in the picture of about a price of a regular MG kit. I strongly feel that the purchase was well worth it. Let's check out what's inside the boxes

Put together and side by side the bases could accomodate the size of 2 MG's without looking too congested or cluttered. I must say this shot alone already gives the "hangar feel" to me, I am most likely going to take pictures from this "Hangar".

Out of the box, the kotobukiya mechanical chain bases have little 1/100 scale add on's to make your Hangar Diorama complete with forklifts, Containers of different sizes, spotlights, weapon racks, small truck thingies, I even saw some missiles in there. The rest of the pics show them combined, Since I have 8 of these bases I have alot of this add-on's to my Hangar, should you get only 1 their would only be a few included. Of course the white 1/100 scale people there are from the 1/100 MG's I have. Now that is starting to look like a very buisy Hangar.

I tried the base with only 1 MG to make things not look to cluttered. So here is my beloved FA sinanju. 

and here it is with my Nexus Freedom. (this guy is long over due for a paint job)

That's it guys. I just wanted to share with you this purchase I made. THE BASES I BOUGHT ARE KNOCK OFF's. I'm not interested in using this diorama for a competition, my very purpose for buying this is for photo shoot's and something to house my gundams. I also wish to use this with my reviews that I still have yet to make. I'd like to recommend that you buy them. Whether knock off or not having a Hangar like this would make your Gundam/Mecha feel right at Home.
